7 Reasons Eastern Shore Waterfront Property is Worth the Investment

7 Reasons Eastern Shore Waterfront Property is Worth the Investment

There’s no doubt about it: waterfront properties present some challenges that are not present with inland homes. For instance, not only is waterfront property more expensive than inland property, but it also requires more maintenance than inland property.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you should avoid investing in waterfront lots on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. In fact, for many home buyers, the challenges of waterfront properties are easily canceled out by the numerous benefits presented by a Chesapeake Bay lifestyle.

Trying to decide whether or not you should invest in a waterfront property? Here are 7 reasons to invest in the #brackishlife.

1. Waterfront Living Never Goes Out Of Style

If you’re in the home buying process, you’re probably not thinking about selling any time soon. However, somewhere down the line, you could decide to sell your home.

Do you want the potential sale of your home to go quickly & easily? If so, a waterfront home would be a great choice. Because waterfront homes are in constant demand, they tend to attract buyers almost as soon as they’re put up for sale.

Whereas it could take 6 months to over a year to sell an inland property, it usually takes no longer than a month to two months to sell a waterfront property. And since the selling process usually comes with plenty of bidders, you’re almost sure to get a good return.

In short, waterfront lots on the Eastern Shore are terrific monetary (and memory making) investments.

2. Saves Money on Various Waterfront Fees

Maybe you like to take your boat out on the water and go fishing? Perhaps you have jet skis or other types of aquatic equipment? If so, you need to pay club fees to dock them somewhere… unless you have your own waterfront property.

By investing in a waterfront home, you will be able to dock your boats, jet skis, and other water vehicles right off of your property. Because your property belongs to you, you won’t have to pay any additional fees to do so (except for maybe a municipal permit).

Not only will this save you money, but it will also make it easier for you to engage in activities that you enjoy. No more driving 2 miles to reach your boat. Just walk out in your back or front yard and hop on at your leisure. – not to mention how easy it is to fish, crab, clam, and hunt for local delicacies from the comfort of your own property! TALK ABOUT FRESH!

3. The Shore Provides a Vibrant Social Atmosphere

Those who choose to live next to the water typically do so because they enjoy the activity and atmosphere that it provides.

The result of this? Waterfront communities are typically filled with like-minded individuals, individuals who enjoy boating, beachcombing, and other leisurely, water-filled activities.

Naturally, because so many like-minded individuals are living together in close(ish) proximity to one another, a vibrant social atmosphere is created. This results in more gatherings, more get-togethers, and unlimited community events. In other words, it results in a more fulfilling social life.

While other types of neighborhoods can provide excellent social atmospheres, few provide the atmospheres characteristic of waterfront communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Local’s have perfected laid-back living complete with quality outdoor dining, leisurely boat rides and equal parts privacy/ abundant connection.

4. Lends Unmatched Scenery

What would you rather look at when you wake up in the mornings, a black street and a row of houses, or a beautiful, glistening body of water? A good many of us would have to go with the body of water- but that’s not all a waterfront panorama has to offer. From Blue Crab to Sika Deer, the Eastern Shore is teaming with local wildlife. It is hard to take in the views without spotting a blue heron hunting for its next meal or catching a glimpse of the ever elusive Porpoises.

The simple fact of the matter is that waterfront houses lend scenery that is unmatched by most other types of properties. There’s just something about a vast expanse of water that lifts the human spirit.

5. Can Yield Future Financial Rewards

As was noted above, waterfront property is highly sought-after property. Many homeowners are dying to live next to the water, and are willing to pay large amounts of money to do so.

Therefore, as the owner of waterfront property, you would be in a terrific financial position. Because home buyers are willing to pay large sums of money for waterfront homes, they would be willing to pay a large sum of money for your waterfront home. In essence, an oceanfront property gives you financial leverage.

While waterfront properties have reduced in value in the past, it is rare. Generally, even if they do reduce in value for a portion of time, they eventually end up skyrocketing, selling for much more than what they were originally bought.

6. Makes for a Great Home Away from Home

Perhaps you’re looking to invest in a home away from home as a means of getting away from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life? If so, you must consider investing in a waterfront property. Maryland’s Eastern Shore is just a quick drive from Baltimore, DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania making it the perfect location for a get away.

A waterfront home allows you to switch up your lifestyle a bit, helping you delve into a more laid-back and adventurous side of yourself. This, in turn, helps you to let off some steam and decompress from the daily grind of work and responsibility. Serenity is just over the Bay Bridge! In fact, the Eastern Shore is often rfered to as “The Hamptons of the Chesapeake”

7. Generally Aesthetically Pleasing

While there certainly are exceptions, the fact of the matter is that most waterfront homes are luxury homes. After all, because waterfront land tends to sell for higher prices, those who build their homes on such land typically possess the financial means to make their homes aesthetically astounding.

Although the Eastern Shore boasts a wide variety of waterfront properties, most are grand estates. Large pieces of property provide space for magnificent, stylish homes equipped with pools, boats, splendid landscaping and plenty of outdoor recreation. Whether you choose a waterfront neighborhood close to the downtown areas or a secluded off-the-beaten-path plot tucked away from the daily grind, it is highly likely that you will enjoy a sort of relaxed “lived-in luxury” that only the Eastern Shore can provide.
